The 4 Dixies are great singers!
We arrived at the campground Friday evening, to find the club had gone out to eat fish and were just beginning to return a few at a time. We stood around talking and catching up for a while, then headed into the building to play a few rounds of dominoes. We eventually all went to bed. Janet and I found that, as usual, there was a very bright street light shining in our camper.

Saturday morning, Janet and I woke up early and joined our parents to eat breakfast at The Moose Cafe in Asheville. We then went to the Bele Chere festival. Several club members told us there were "lots of wierdos" at Bele Chere. Turns out they meant Hippies! There was a lot of great art at the festival, but it started to get very hot that afternoon. Since we couldn't afford most of what was there, we left after seeing most of the booths.

From Asheville, we headed to Hendersonville, with the intention of visiting the antique shops. Janet got an amazing deal on a set of china last time we were there! We ended up only visiting the hardware store and a great scrapbooking store. Hendersonville had many decorated bears on the sidewalks, and I took photos of every one we saw!

Playing dominoes Friday night
On the way back to the campground we stopped at the Dish Barn--which is full of dishes, kitchen gadgets, home decor, Christmas stuff.... and lots more stuff of all kinds.

Saturday evening the club had a spaghetti dinner and our meeting, followed by karaoke! The campground was having a karaoke night, and we enjoyed it greatly. The 4 Dixies (at left, above), who are grandchildren of various club members, entertained us all with an acapella version of
Traveling Soldier. That is a really long song and they did a great job with it! They recruited Sharon as their manager--who counted their take from the tip jar! Many of the club members were recruited to sing various songs, and there was some dancing going on as well. Including the Hokey Pokey! (Large Quicktime file there)
